OptinMonster's Shopify listing is short: one plan, $49 a month, and no traffic limit in sight. That's a fair price. It's also the problem, because you can't tell from the listing what you'd pay once your store gets busy. If that, or the app's 2.5 rating on Shopify, has you shopping for an OptinMonster alternative, this guide compares 10 Shopify popup apps at real traffic levels.
Our verdict up front: for most Shopify stores with 20,000 visitors or more, Optinify is the best OptinMonster alternative. It's built only for Shopify, every plan's traffic limit is public up to 400,000 visitors, and someone moves your campaigns for you.
One honest caveat: switching won't save you money at 20,000 visitors. We both cost $49 there, and OptinMonster is cheaper at 30,000. The tables below show where that changes.
Every price, limit and rating here comes from each app's Shopify App Store listing, checked on November 4, 2026. Where we use the vendor's website for context, we say so.
Which OptinMonster Alternative Fits Your Store?
The right popup tool depends on your traffic, your email platform and your use case. Start with this table and you should end up with a shortlist of one or two.
Which OptinMonster Alternative Fits Your Store?
Why Do Merchants Look for an OptinMonster Alternative?
On Shopify, the main reasons are mixed reviews, unclear limits and a product built for many platforms at once. Many lists also complain about features locked behind higher plans, but that barely applies to Shopify stores, because the listing only sells the plan that includes nearly everything.
What We Found on Shopify
Here's what we could confirm from OptinMonster's Shopify listing, its reviews and its own documentation:
- The traffic limit isn't on the listing. It says "unlimited exit & email popups", which means popups, not views. OptinMonster's pricing page puts its Growth plan at 100,000 impressions, and an impression is any time a visitor sees a campaign.
- The reviews are split. Shopify shows 2.5 stars from 15 reviews: nine five-star and six one-star, nothing in between. By our math that averages closer to 3.4, so the display looks odd, and the split shows how differently merchants find it.
- Billing shows up in the complaints. A reviewer who edited their post in February 2023 says a downgrade request was ignored and the yearly plan charged in full. A 2021 reviewer says a refund was refused after the 15-day window. OptinMonster's team disputes the 2023 account, calling it a misunderstanding. The newest review, from March 2025, says the chat box isn't a real chat.
- The Shopify docs are old. Its Shopify setup guide was last updated in March 2022. It also warns that starting the Shopify trial can override a subscription you already have directly with OptinMonster.
- It isn't only for stores. OptinMonster's cost page names ecommerce stores alongside publishers, membership sites, course creators and non-profits. That breadth is useful if you run a WordPress blog. On Shopify, you may want deeper ties to your store.
What OptinMonster Does Well
Fifteen reviews since 2017 is a small sample. Happy reviewers praise its Klaviyo sync, support and ease of use, and one uses popups and floating bars to capture new leads. It's a capable tool with loyal users, and we wouldn't tell you to leave because of a star rating alone.
OptinMonster Pricing in 2026
On Shopify, it's simple: one Growth plan at $49 a month with a 30-day free trial, and Shopify handles the billing. That covers unlimited exit and email popups, 400+ templates, 30+ email tools and CRMs, A/B testing, all targeting and triggers, and priority support.
OptinMonster's website is a different story. It sells four plans on annual billing, and only the top one names Shopify:
OptinMonster Pricing in 2026
Every website plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee, and exit intent starts on the Pro plan. Growth also appears at $147 billed monthly. OptinMonster's guide says plan features are the same whichever way you subscribe.
So if you pay OptinMonster directly and run a Shopify store, check that renewal date before you do anything else. Moving to Shopify billing might solve your problem without leaving the app. Ask them to confirm the price and the traffic limit in writing first, since the listing and website don't line up.
How Do OptinMonster Alternatives Compare?

Here are the entry plans side by side, with OptinMonster on top for reference. Watch the "entry plan covers" column, because what an app counts changes the real price more than the headline number does.
How Do OptinMonster Alternatives Compare?
*Klaviyo's rating covers its whole email and SMS app, not just forms. Prices are monthly billing in USD. Annual billing is cheaper for most of them.
What You'd Pay at 20,000 Visitors a Month

Entry prices hide the real cost. "50K pageviews" sounds bigger than "20K visitors", but it's smaller, because one visitor usually opens several pages. We assumed three pageviews per visitor. Your store's real number is in Shopify analytics.
For 20,000 monthly visitors (about 60,000 pageviews), the cheapest Shopify plan that covers you costs:
What You'd Pay at 20,000 Visitors a Month
Klaviyo doesn't fit this table, since it bills on contacts and bundles forms in. Getsitecontrol beats us here and we won't hide it, though its email sending adds a usage fee of $1.60 per 1,000 emails on Pro.
OptinMonster vs Optinify at Every Traffic Level

This is the table that matters if you're choosing between the two, and it doesn't all go our way. Same three pageviews per visitor, monthly billing, assuming a campaign can show on every page:
OptinMonster vs Optinify at Every Traffic Level
We left the top three open because OptinMonster's own pages disagree on what comes next. Its pricing page says you move to a custom plan after it contacts you. An older help article, last updated in January 2023, describes $29 monthly blocks of 100,000 pageviews instead.
If those blocks still apply, OptinMonster would stay cheaper than us until roughly 300,000 visitors. If you get a custom quote, nobody outside the deal can say. Ask before you decide. And if your popup only runs on some pages, your impressions fall and OptinMonster's math improves further.
So price isn't why we'd suggest switching. A number you can see before you sign up is.
What Happens When You Hit Your Limit?
Most comparisons skip this, and it's the question that hurts during a sale. Here's what we could confirm:
What Happens When You Hit Your Limit?
The others don't state it on the pages we read. Ask them too. OptinMonster deserves credit here, because keeping campaigns live is the right default.
The 10 Best OptinMonster Alternatives for Shopify
1. Optinify: The Best OptinMonster Alternative Overall

Best for: Shopify brands with 20,000 visitors or more that want a known price, games and hands-on help.
Optinify is a Shopify popup app for email and SMS capture (this is our product). It's priced by monthly visitors, so browsing and extra campaigns don't move your bill, and every plan includes every feature:
- Formats and games: lightbox, floating bar, full-page and multi-step popups, announcement, free-shipping and countdown bars, plus spin the wheel, scratch to win, mystery discount, match cards and mini quizzes. Our spin-to-win popup page shows how the wheel works.
- Triggers and targeting: exit-intent popups, scroll depth, time delay and idle triggers, plus new or returning visitors, device, country and Shopify Markets. Our guide to popup targeting rules shows how to combine them.
- Offers and testing: unique discount codes, frequency capping, and a built-in A/B test campaign on every plan.
- Integrations: Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Brevo, GoHighLevel, Drip, MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, Moosend, Redo and TargetBay, plus Shopify customers. Here's every tool Optinify connects to.
- Support: live chat and email from real people on every plan, plus concierge onboarding.
Pricing: Starter $49/mo (20K visitors), Pro $89 (40K), Elite $199 (100K) and Enterprise $299 (400K). Annual billing saves 20%. See Optinify pricing.
Compared to OptinMonster: The same $49 at 20K visitors, with a stated limit at every step. More games too, and a key account manager moves your OptinMonster campaigns over and publishes them for you.
The catch: A shorter trial (14 days against 30), no free plan, and it won't run outside Shopify.
2. Getsitecontrol: For the Lowest Price at Any Traffic

Best for: Small brands that want popups and email marketing together at a very low price.
Getsitecontrol lists its app as GSC Email Marketing + Popups. You get email campaigns, automations, segments and popups in one place, with unlimited contacts even on the free plan.
Pricing: Free for 10K widget views. Pro is $19/mo (100K views) plus $1.60 per 1,000 emails sent. Pro Max is $29 (unlimited views) plus $1.40 per 1,000 emails.
Compared to OptinMonster: Far cheaper, and $29 removes the traffic question entirely. It only counts when a widget shows, so quiet pages cost nothing.
The catch: It's an email tool with popups, not a popup specialist. The listing doesn't name games, and A/B testing, widget targeting and branding removal start at Pro. Moving your email service over is a bigger job than swapping a popup app.
3. Claspo: For High Limits and AI Testing

Best for: Stores happy with pageview billing that want a lot of room for the money.
Claspo includes unlimited widgets, users and features on each plan, with spin the wheel, memory cards, scratch cards, product quizzes, cart abandonment popups and AI-run A/B tests. Its listing offers migration support from several popup tools, though OptinMonster isn't one it names.
Pricing: Free for 3K pageviews with a "Powered by Claspo" badge. Then $39/mo (50K pageviews), $69 (100K) and $249 (1M), with a 14-day trial.
Compared to OptinMonster: The limit is written down. At very high traffic, this is one to price first.
The catch: One website per plan, and a jump from $69 straight to $249. It's also metered on every pageview, popup or no popup.
4. OptiMonk: For a Free Start and an AI Agent

Best for: Stores that want to start free and let AI build their campaigns.
OptiMonk lets you build popups by chatting with an AI agent, which works from your goal and store URL. It integrates with Attentive and Postscript, which matters if your SMS runs on either.
Pricing: Free for 10K pageviews with all features. Essential $29/mo (20K), Growth $99 (100K) and Premium $249 (500K).
Compared to OptinMonster: Far stronger reviews, at 4.8 from 452. But at 20K visitors you'd pay $99 against $49.
The catch: Every pageview counts, and campaigns pause at the limit.
5. Popupsmart: For AI Drafts on a Small Budget

Best for: Small teams that want AI-written popups and a low entry price.
Popupsmart has an AI popup builder, spin-to-win and lottery games, exit intent, multi-step forms and built-in automated emails.
Pricing: Free for 5K pageviews and one live popup. Starter $19/mo (25K), Basic $39 (50K) and Advanced $69 (100K).
Compared to OptinMonster: Under about 15K visitors you'd pay $39 or less, against $49. Above that, the $69 tier costs more.
The catch: A/B testing starts at $69, while OptinMonster includes it at $49.
6. Poptin: For Popups and Email in One Place

Best for: Small stores that want a popup and email tool in one app.
Poptin covers exit-intent, spin-the-wheel, countdown and notification bar popups, plus email campaigns, automated sequences and A/B testing. It has 348 reviews at 4.9, which is a lot of happy merchants.
Pricing: Free for 1K visitors. $19/mo (5K visitors), $29 (10K) and $119 (100K).
Compared to OptinMonster: Cheaper under 10K visitors, and it adds email sending. At 100K visitors, $119 is a clear, published number.
The catch: Paid plans also cap active contacts, at 500, 1,000 and 10,000. A large list can push you up a tier, and that's a big jump.
7. Sleeknote: For Visitor Billing and Phone Support

Best for: Brands running several domains that want visitor billing and someone to call.
Sleeknote is a drag-and-drop builder with exit intent, countdown timers, hello bars and surveys, plus unlimited campaigns and domains. It targets visitors with Shopify data, and connects to HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp and Zapier.
Pricing: Core is $69/mo (25K visitors) or $83 (50K). Core+Gamification, which adds wheels and scratch cards, is $95 or $115. Each has a 14-day trial.
Compared to OptinMonster: Phone support and visitor billing, for $20 or more above OptinMonster's price.
The catch: The Shopify app launched in March 2025 and has four reviews, one of them a one-star complaint about cancelling. That's too few to judge. Games cost extra too.
8. Alia: For AI-Run Testing

Best for: Funded Shopify brands that want AI to decide what to test.
Alia is a Shopify app for email and SMS capture, with popups that adapt to each visitor, automatic A/B testing, quizzes and games. It connects to Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Omnisend, Sendlane and Yotpo, with onboarding on every plan.
Pricing: $100/mo (20K visitors), $200 (50K), $300 (100K) and $400 (300K), with a 14-day trial.
Compared to OptinMonster: About twice the price at 20K.
The catch: No free plan, and it's one of the pricier options for small stores.
9. Klaviyo Forms: Free If You Already Use It

Best for: Stores already running email and SMS on Klaviyo that want simple signup forms without another app.
Popups and embedded forms come with the Klaviyo app. There's no traffic meter, and forms and flows share one audience, so your bill follows your list rather than your visitors.
Pricing: Free up to 250 active profiles. Email starts at $20/mo for 251 to 500 contacts, and SMS at $15/mo.
Compared to OptinMonster: One less app and one less bill, if basic forms are enough.
The catch: You're tied to Klaviyo. One reviewer on the listing also reports a charge over $900 after their active profile count rose sharply, so keep an eye on it.
10. Wisepops: For Extra Channels on a Big Budget

Best for: Big stores that want popups, web push and a notification feed in one place.
Wisepops includes 140+ templates, AI product recommendations, web push and A/B testing with control groups, plus personalized onboarding and live chat.
Pricing: The Shopify listing shows one plan: $299/mo or $2,990/yr, up to 500K pageviews, with a 14-day trial.
Compared to OptinMonster: You'd pick it for the extra channels and the published limit, not the price.
The catch: $299 is the floor. A 20K-visitor store pays for far more traffic than it will use.
Popular OptinMonster Alternatives We Left Out
Other lists often recommend these four. We left them out because we only compare what we can price from a Shopify listing, and we couldn't get one on November 4, 2026.
Popular OptinMonster Alternatives We Left Out
That doesn't mean they can't work on a store. It means you'd be installing outside the App Store, with Shopify handling neither the billing nor the listing's reviews.
Is There a Free OptinMonster Alternative?
Yes, several free alternatives exist. OptinMonster has no free plan on Shopify, only the 30-day trial, so any of these beats it on that point. OptiMonk and Getsitecontrol have the most generous free tier, at 10,000 pageviews and 10,000 widget views.
Popupsmart gives you 5,000 pageviews with one live popup. Claspo offers 3,000 with a badge, Poptin covers 1,000 visitors, and Klaviyo includes forms up to 250 active profiles.
What About OptinMonster Alternatives for WordPress?
Optinify is Shopify-only, so we're not the answer here. Honestly, OptinMonster may suit a WordPress site better than a store. If you use OptinMonster on WordPress, you're really comparing popup plugins for WordPress, not Shopify apps. Of the apps on this list, Claspo has a WordPress plugin and Popupsmart installs with an embed code. Thrive Leads and Popup Maker are WordPress plugins that other lists often name, though we haven't compared them here.
OptinMonster vs OptiMonk: Which One Should You Pick?
For a Shopify store, pick OptiMonk unless price at 20K to 30K visitors decides it. Its Shopify rating is far higher and it has a free plan. OptinMonster costs half as much at 20K visitors, and it doesn't count pages without a popup.
OptinMonster Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Good value at $49 on Shopify, if the listing price and limit hold for your store
- Meters impressions, so pages without a popup don't count
- Campaigns stay live when you pass your limit
- A 30-day trial, the longest on this list
- 30+ email tools and CRMs, 400+ templates and A/B testing included
- Slide-ins, fullscreen overlays and sidebar forms on its website plans
- Works on WordPress, WooCommerce and others if you run more than one site type
Cons:
- A 2.5 rating on Shopify, with billing and refund complaints
- No traffic limit on the listing, and no clear public price above 100,000 impressions
- Shopify documentation last updated in 2022
- No free plan on Shopify
When Does It Make Sense to Stay With OptinMonster?
Stay if you have fewer than about 33,000 visitors, the app works for you and you're on the $49 Shopify plan. Nothing here beats that by enough to justify rebuilding your campaigns, unless you're after a specific feature.
Also stay if you run popups on non-Shopify sites as well, or rely on an integration such as HubSpot that a new app lacks. And if your popup only runs on a few pages, impression billing works in your favor.
Optinify vs OptinMonster at a Glance
What to Check Before You Choose a Popup Builder
A few questions will save you a bad surprise in month two:
- How does it count traffic? Pageviews, visitors, impressions, widget views and contacts all behave differently. Convert each to your own numbers.
- What happens at the limit? Some apps pause, others upgrade you or bill extra, and many don't say. Ask before you need to know.
- Is the integration native? Check for your email and SMS tools by name, because a native connection passes tags and consent without a middleman.
- How does it create discount codes? Unique codes per subscriber stop your offer from ending up on coupon sites.
- Who moves your campaigns? Rebuilding every popup takes time, so ask whether the new app will do it for you.
How to Switch From OptinMonster Without Losing Conversions

Nobody can honestly promise that switching lifts your conversion rate. Your offer matters more than your tool. What you can do is protect what's working.
- Record your baseline. Write down signup rate, revenue per campaign and new subscribers per week. Export anything you want to keep, since analytics history is unlikely to follow you.
- Check how you're billed. Shopify bills some OptinMonster subscribers and OptinMonster bills others. If you pay OptinMonster directly, find your renewal date and cancel with them, because uninstalling from Shopify may not stop it.
- Move your best campaign first. Copy the offer, trigger and audience exactly. Change one thing and you won't know what made the difference.
- Check the handoff. Submit your own email, then confirm the contact reaches your email tool with the right tags, the discount code works and your welcome flow fires. Most problems show up here.
- Compare fairly. Run the new popup on part of your traffic or on alternate weeks, and never show two tools to the same visitor. Wait for a few hundred signups before you decide.
- Move the rest, then remove OptinMonster. Open the store on a real phone first, then turn off the old app and uninstall it, so old script doesn't stay on your store.
If you're moving to Optinify, your key account manager recreates your campaigns, matches the targeting, connects your email tool and publishes everything. Prefer to do it yourself? Check our step-by-step guide to adding a popup.
How We Picked These OptinMonster Alternatives
We started from the tools other OptinMonster lists keep naming, then kept those with a live Shopify App Store listing and a published price. We added Claspo, Alia and Klaviyo, which we also cover in our roundup of the best Shopify popup apps.
Each listing was read on November 4, 2026. Conversion claims from vendors, ours included, were left out. Optinify ranks first, and that's our call, not a neutral one.
