Popupsmart looks cheap until your store gets busy. Plans are metered on every pageview on your site, A/B testing starts at $69 a month, and the Basic plan has one team seat. If you've hit one of those walls, these Popupsmart alternatives are worth a look.
Our verdict up front: Optinify is the best Popupsmart alternative for most growing Shopify stores. You pay by visitors, so browsing doesn't inflate your bill. Every feature, A/B testing included, comes with every plan from $49 a month, and a key account manager moves your campaigns over for you.
One honest caveat: if your store gets fewer than about 15,000 visitors a month, Popupsmart is probably still cheaper. We show you where that line falls below.
Every price, limit and rating here comes from each app's Shopify App Store listing or pricing page, checked on October 30, 2026.
Which of These Popupsmart Alternatives Fits Your Store?
The right popup tool depends on your traffic, your email platform and how much you want to do yourself. Optinify suits most Shopify stores past the small-store stage. If your needs are narrower, here's where the others fit:
Which of These Popupsmart Alternatives Fits Your Store?
Why Do Merchants Look for Popupsmart Alternatives?
Merchants usually seek alternatives because Popupsmart's limits start to bite as the store grows. Pageview metering raises the bill, A/B testing and extra seats sit on higher plans, and stores above 500K pageviews need a custom quote. Support and features matter less often, but they come up too.
Ease of use is rarely the problem. Popupsmart is a no-code popup builder, and most of its visible Shopify reviews are positive. The friction shows up later, once an e-commerce store has real traffic, because shoppers on online stores open a lot of pages.
Here's what we could confirm from Popupsmart's pricing page, its own product facts page and its reviews:
- You pay for pageviews, even on pages with no popup. Popupsmart says itself that pricing is metered on total site pageviews, not popup impressions. A shopper who views eight products counts eight times.
- Overages are on by choice, then they add up. With auto-extend on, extra traffic costs $10 per 10,000 pageviews, and extra email costs $5 per 500 sends.
- A/B testing starts at $69. It isn't on the Free or Basic plans.
- Team seats are tight. Basic has one seat, Advanced and Pro have two, and Expert has four.
- The free plan is small. You get one live popup, one website, 5,000 pageviews, 100 emails and Popupsmart branding.
- No published price above 500K pageviews. Bigger stores need a custom quote.
A word on what we left out. Several Popupsmart alternatives lists, many written by rival vendors, say Popupsmart has no A/B testing at all. That's out of date: it does, from the Advanced plan. Others quote slow support times or low conversion rates with no source we could check, so those aren't here. Overall, reviews are decent: 4.6 from 49 reviews on Shopify and 4.2 from 42 on Trustpilot.

Popupsmart's Shopify listing and website show slightly different plan sets, which trips people up. The Starter plan appears only on Shopify.
Popupsmart Pricing in 2026
How Do the Popupsmart Alternatives Compare?

Here are the entry plans for all ten Popupsmart alternatives, with Popupsmart on top for reference. Watch the "billed by" column, because it changes the real price more than the headline number does.
How Do the Popupsmart Alternatives Compare?
*Klaviyo's rating covers its whole email and SMS app, not just forms. Prices are monthly billing in USD from each Shopify App Store listing. Annual billing is cheaper for most of them.
What You'd Pay at 20,000 Visitors a Month

Entry prices hide the real cost. "50K pageviews" sounds bigger than "20K visitors", yet it's actually smaller, because one visitor usually views several pages. Poptin's own listing and Sleeknote's pricing page both work on three pageviews per visitor, so we used that ratio too. Your store's number is in Shopify analytics.
For a store with 20,000 monthly visitors (about 60,000 pageviews), the cheapest plan that covers your traffic costs this much. For Popupsmart we used Advanced, its first plan with A/B testing:
What You'd Pay at 20,000 Visitors a Month
If you don't need A/B testing, Popupsmart's Basic plan plus one $10 overage block also lands at $49. Klaviyo isn't in the table because its forms come with an email plan priced by contacts.
Popupsmart vs Optinify at Every Traffic Level

This is the comparison that matters if you're choosing between the two, and it doesn't all go our way. At the same three pageviews per visitor:
Popupsmart vs Optinify at Every Traffic Level
So Popupsmart wins at the small end and around 100K visitors. Optinify wins in the 20K to 40K range, where many growing stores sit, and at 400K it's the one with a price you can actually see. If shoppers on your store browse more than three pages per visit, the gap moves further toward Optinify, since visitor-based billing doesn't change.
The 10 Best Popupsmart Alternatives for Shopify
Here are the ten Popupsmart alternatives in detail, starting with our top pick.
1. Optinify: The Best Popupsmart Alternative Overall

Best for: Shopify brands with about 15,000 visitors or more that want testing, games and hands-on help without watching a pageview meter.
Optinify is a Shopify popup app (this is our product). It's priced by monthly visitors, and every plan includes every feature:
- Popup formats: lightbox, floating bar and full-page popups, plus announcement, free-shipping and countdown bars.
- Gamified popups and quizzes: spin-the-wheel, scratch card and mini quiz popups. Our spin-to-win popup page shows how the wheel works.
- Triggers and targeting: exit-intent popups, scroll depth, time delay and idle triggers. You can also target new or returning visitors, device, country and Shopify Markets. Our guide to popup targeting rules shows how to combine them.
- Customization: a no-code, customizable canvas for colors, fonts, images and backgrounds, plus ready-made templates for each popup type. Check our popup templates page.
- Lead generation and cart abandonment: email and SMS capture, discount popups, and exit-intent offers for shoppers about to leave a full cart.
- Testing and timing: a built-in A/B test campaign on every plan, plus campaign scheduling with a start and end date, so a Black Friday popup turns itself on and off.
- Integration with your email tool: Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Brevo, GoHighLevel, Drip, MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, Moosend, Redo and TargetBay, plus Shopify customers. Here's every tool Optinify connects to.
- Support: human chat and email on every plan, plus concierge onboarding. The admin comes in English, French, Dutch and German.
Pricing: Starter $49/mo (20K visitors), Pro $89/mo (40K), Elite $199/mo (100K) and Enterprise $299/mo (400K). Annual billing saves 20%. See Optinify pricing for details.
Compared to Popupsmart: At 20K visitors you pay $49 instead of $69 and get the same A/B testing. Over a year, that's $240 back before any annual discount. You also skip the pageview math.
Why it wins:
- Billed by visitors, not pageviews. Your bill doesn't jump because shoppers browse more.
- Nothing locked behind a higher tier. Games, A/B testing and bars are on the $49 plan.
- A key account manager for every store. They move your Popupsmart campaigns over and publish them for you.
- Built for Shopify alone. Leads sync to Shopify customers, and targeting includes Shopify Markets.
The catch: There's no free plan and no AI popup generator, and it won't run on a non-Shopify site. It also has only six Shopify reviews so far, all five stars. A small sample, so use the trial to judge it for yourself.
2. Alia: For AI-Run Testing on a Bigger Budget

Best for: Well-funded Shopify brands that want AI to pick what to test and don't mind paying for it.
Alia is a Shopify app, with email and SMS capture, quizzes and gamified incentives. Its focus is automated testing, where the app proposes variants and picks winners. Its listing shows integrations with Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Omnisend, Sendlane and Yotpo, which helps if your SMS runs on Attentive or Postscript.
Pricing: The Shopify listing shows $100/mo (20K visitors), $200 (50K), $300 (100K) and $400 (300K), with a 14-day trial. Alia's own pricing page shows higher figures, so confirm before you budget.
Compared to Popupsmart: Visitor billing and automated testing, at a much higher price. At 20K visitors it's $100 against $69.
The catch: It's among the most expensive apps here, with no free plan and less visibility into why a variant won.
3. OptiMonk: For a Free Start and an AI Agent

Best for: Stores that want a bigger free plan than Popupsmart's and like the idea of an AI agent drafting campaigns.
OptiMonk includes every feature on every plan, free plan included, so A/B testing isn't gated. Its AI agent builds and targets popups from your goals and store URL, which makes it the closest match if Popupsmart's AI builder is what you like most. Users are unlimited too.
Pricing: Free for 10K pageviews. Essential is $29/mo (20K pageviews), Growth $99 (100K) and Premium $249 (500K). Annual plans save up to 34%.
Compared to Popupsmart: The free plan is twice the size, and testing costs nothing extra. But Popupsmart's $39 plan covers 50K pageviews while OptiMonk jumps from 20K to 100K, so mid-size stores can pay more.
The catch: Like Popupsmart, it bills by pageviews, so it doesn't solve the metering problem. A 20K-visitor store lands on Growth at $99.
4. Klaviyo Forms: Free If You Already Use Klaviyo

Best for: Stores whose email and SMS already run on Klaviyo and who want simple sign-up forms without another app.
Forms come with the Klaviyo app, so there's no separate popup bill. According to Klaviyo's forms page, you get popups, flyouts, embedded forms, full-page forms and banners, plus A/B testing, multi-step forms, segmentation, and targeting by location and cart value.
Pricing: Part of Klaviyo's free plan, up to 250 active profiles. Paid email starts at $20/mo on Shopify for 251–500 contacts, and your bill grows with your list.
Compared to Popupsmart: No traffic meter at all, and your forms and flows share one audience.
The catch: You're tied to Klaviyo, and the only game format its forms page shows is spin-to-win.
5. Claspo: For Lots of Game Formats

Best for: Stores that want plenty of games and generous pageview tiers.
Claspo offers spin the wheel, memory cards, scratch cards and other games, plus product quizzes and back-in-stock popups. All plans include unlimited widgets, users and features.
Pricing: Free for 3K pageviews with Claspo branding. Paid plans are $39/mo (50K pageviews), $69 (100K) and $249 (1M), each with a 14-day trial.
Compared to Popupsmart: Same $39 and $69 price points for the same pageviews, but with unlimited users and no feature gates. It's the most direct like-for-like swap on this list.
The catch: One website on every plan, and billing is still by pageviews. The free plan is more of a demo.
6. Justuno: For Stores That Want It Done for Them

Best for: Brands that want a team involved in building and tuning campaigns.
Justuno covers email and SMS popups, quizzes, surveys, banners, flyouts, embedded promos and upsells. It also sells Spotlight, an add-on that identifies anonymous visitors.
Pricing: 10K Lite is $59/mo, 20K Lite $99, 50K Lite $199 and 100K Lite $299, billed by unique visitors. Annual billing saves 10%, and each plan has a 14-day trial.
Compared to Popupsmart: Visitor billing and more service, at a higher price at every level.
The catch: The cheapest plan covers just 10K visitors, and at 100K you're paying $299 against Popupsmart's $159.
7. Poptin: For Popups and Email in One Bill

Best for: Small stores that want popups and basic email marketing from one company.
Poptin covers exit-intent, spin-the-wheel, discount, email, SMS and cart popups, plus email campaigns and autoresponders. If you rely on Popupsmart's automated emails, this is the nearest replacement. It connects to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot and Zapier as well.
Pricing: Free for 1K visitors. On Shopify, Growth 500 is $19/mo (5K visitors), Growth 1,000 $29 (10K) and Growth 10K $119 (100K).
Compared to Popupsmart: Unlimited domains on paid plans and unlimited emails, against Popupsmart's email caps.
The catch: The listing jumps from 10K straight to 100K visitors, so a 20K-visitor store pays $119.
8. OptinMonster: For Stores That Also Run WordPress

Best for: Merchants who want one long-established tool across Shopify and other sites.
OptinMonster has 700+ templates, exit intent, geolocation targeting and onsite retargeting. It's one of the most familiar names on Popupsmart alternatives lists, though its roots are on platforms like WordPress more than Shopify.
Pricing: The Shopify app lists Growth at $49/mo with a 30-day trial, and OptinMonster's Shopify docs say you need Growth to use the app fully. On its website, Growth shows as $67/mo billed annually for 100K impressions, renewing at $1,470 a year.
Compared to Popupsmart: It counts popup impressions, not total pageviews, so pages without a popup don't use your quota.
The catch: Cheaper headline plans don't apply to Shopify stores, and the Shopify app is rated just 2.5 from 15 reviews.
9. Sleeknote: For Design Control

Best for: Brands that want a drag-and-drop builder and don't mind paying extra for games.
Sleeknote gives you a drag-and-drop builder, exit-intent popups, countdown timers, surveys and multi-step quizzes. Every plan includes unlimited domains, plus phone, chat and email support.
Pricing: On Shopify, Core is $69/mo (25K visitors) or $83 (50K). Core + Gamification is $95 or $115. The pricing page is in euros and has higher tiers.
Compared to Popupsmart: Same $69 at 20K visitors, with phone support and unlimited domains thrown in.
The catch: Games cost extra, and the Shopify app has just four reviews, averaging 3.5.
10. Wisepops: For High-Traffic Stores

Best for: Large stores that want popups, web push and on-site notifications in one tool.
Wisepops includes 140+ templates, AI product recommendations, web push and A/B testing.
Pricing: The Shopify listing shows one plan: $299/mo, or $2,990/yr, for up to 500K pageviews, with a 14-day trial.
Compared to Popupsmart: Popupsmart's Expert covers the same 500K pageviews for $159, so you'd pick Wisepops for push and notifications, not price.
The catch: $299 is the floor. A 20K-visitor store pays for far more traffic than it will ever use.
When Does It Make Sense to Stay With Popupsmart?
Stay with Popupsmart if your store gets under about 15,000 visitors a month, you run several websites from one account, or the AI-generated popups Popupsmart offers are the part you use most. It also lists HubSpot, Make, SendGrid and Zapier, which Optinify doesn't, and its plans include automated emails.
If none of that describes you, and you're paying for Advanced mainly to get A/B testing, it's worth comparing. That's the spot where most Popupsmart alternatives start to make sense.
Popupsmart vs Optinify at a Glance
Popupsmart vs Optinify at a Glance
Optinify wins for a growing store that wants testing and hands-on help at a price that doesn't track every page a shopper opens. Popupsmart keeps its edge for small stores and multi-site setups.
What to Check Before Choosing Between Popupsmart Alternatives
A few questions will save you a bad surprise in month two:
- How does it count traffic? Divide a pageview limit by your pages per visitor to get the visitors it really covers.
- What happens when you go over? Popupsmart publishes its overage fees. Many apps don't, so ask.
- Are your emails going to break? If you use Popupsmart's automated emails, you'll need to rebuild your welcome message in your email tool before you switch.
- Is the integration native? Check for your email and SMS tools by name, especially if you rely on Zapier or HubSpot. A native integration passes tags and consent without a middleman.
- Does it have the targeting options you need? Advanced targeting means more than a time delay: look for segmentation by new or returning visitors, device, country and page.
- How much customization do you get? Some editors are drag-and-drop, and others send you to custom CSS. Build one real popup, and see whether the editor has a user-friendly interface for the person who'll use it every week.
- How will you measure conversion? Your popup conversion rate tells you more than views do. Check that the analytics show signups and revenue per campaign, since that's what conversion optimization runs on.
- How does it create discount codes? Some apps generate a unique Shopify code per subscriber. Others show one shared code that ends up on coupon sites.
- Who moves your popup campaigns? Rebuilding every popup takes time, so ask whether the new app will do it for you.
How to Test Popupsmart Alternatives During the Free Trial
Fourteen days is enough to judge a popup app if you treat it as an experiment.
- Write down your baseline. Note your Popupsmart signup rate and new subscribers per week before you change anything.
- Rebuild one popup, not five. Copy your best performer: same offer, trigger and audience. Change the offer as well and you won't know what made the difference.
- Submit a test contact. Sign up with your own email, then check that the contact reaches your email tool with the right tags, the discount code arrives and your welcome flow fires. Most delivery problems show up here.
- Open it on a real phone. Check the user experience there: the close button should be easy to hit, and the form shouldn't cover add-to-cart.
- Compare after at least a week. One good day doesn't tell you much about list growth.
How to Switch From Popupsmart to Optinify

Your key account manager handles most of it. They recreate your campaigns in Optinify, match the targeting, connect your email tool and publish everything.
- Install Optinify from the Shopify App Store and turn on the app embed in your theme.
- Save what lives in Popupsmart. Keep a copy of any leads stored in its dashboard, and move automated emails into your email tool.
- Meet your key account manager. Show them your live campaigns: offers, triggers, audiences and discount codes.
- Check the rebuilt popups on desktop and mobile. Ask for anything you'd like changed.
- Turn off Popupsmart once Optinify is live, so two popups never compete for the same visitor.

How We Picked These Popupsmart Alternatives
We began with the tools that come up most on Popupsmart alternatives lists and review sites, then kept the ones with a Shopify App Store listing and published prices. Privy shows up on many older lists, but its listing now says it's not currently available on the Shopify App Store, so we left it out. Hello Bar and Plum also appear on these lists, but we kept this one to apps whose Shopify pricing we could verify.
We read each listing and, where one exists, the vendor's pricing page on October 30, 2026. Where they disagreed, we used the Shopify listing, since that's what a Shopify merchant pays, and said so. We didn't use conversion-rate claims from any vendor, ours included, because results depend too much on your store and offer. We ranked Optinify first, and we'd rather you know that's our call than pretend it's neutral. For a wider look, see our roundup of the best Shopify popup apps.
